A color sprayed 100ml candle jar looks like a straightforward product choice. It is not. The finish changes the weight, the cost, the production lead time and how the finished candle photographs — and it is one of the first things a buyer needs to decide before anything else is specified.
We press glass in Shandong, China, and apply decoration in-house. That means the finish and the container are produced by the same plant, so the specification you approve on the proof is the specification that ships.
What colour sprayed actually involves
Method. Spray colour in a specified pantone reference.

Why buyers choose it. Spray colour is the fastest route to a coloured container without new tooling.
How it combines with other finishes. Fired colour and screen colour differ. Approve a physical proof before production.

What the finish changes commercially
- Weight, and therefore freight. Any coating adds weight. On a 100ml format with a base weight of 95 g, a spray or frost layer can add several percent. Ask your forwarder to quote on the post-finish weight, not the glass weight.
- Lead time. A frosted or coated jar requires an additional firing cycle after forming. This sits between the glass production and the packing stage, and it is the usual reason a coated order ships later than a clear one.
- Minimum order quantity. Decoration setup is a one-off cost. Below roughly 5,000 pieces, setup per unit becomes significant. Ask how it is amortised.
- Appearance tolerance. Frosted and coated surfaces show fingerprints and light surface variation more readily than clear glass. Agree an inspection standard before the batch ships rather than after.
How to specify it properly
Format: 100ml pressed glass candle jar, Colour sprayed finish
Confirm: brimful volume, usable wax volume, mouth diameter, unit weight after finishing
Reference: [Pantone code / physical sample to match]
Quantity: [number]
Packing: 48 pcs/carton standard
Please quote FOB with lead time and validity.
The line that matters most is unit weight after finishing. It is the number your freight calculation depends on, and it is the one most often left out of quotations.
Questions worth asking before you commit
- Is the weight quoted before or after finishing? Confirm in writing.
- Can you provide a physical proof before production? Colour on a screen is not colour after firing.
- What is the durability of this finish after repeated handling or washing?
- Does this finish affect the usable volume, or only the weight?
- Can the finish be combined with a printed graphic, or does the process sequence prevent it?
